Etihad Airways

A flag carrier and the second largest airline in UAE, Etihad Airways operates more than 1,000 flights per week to over 120 passengers as well as cargo destinations to Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas. Considered as the third largest airline in the Middle East and the second largest in the UAE–after Emirates, Etihad Airways’ has its main hub in Abu Dhabi Airport.

Origins and Ownership

In 2003, Etihad Airways was established as the second flag carrier of UAE by Royal Decree issued by: Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Services were launched with a ceremonial flight to Al Ain on November 2003, on November 12 of the same year, Etihad commenced commercial operations with the launched of services to Beirut.

On September 10, 2006, James Hogan was appointed President and CEO of Etihad Airways. James Hogan is an Australian who grew up in Melbourne Victoria, and attended Ivanhoe Grammar School and graduated in 1975. James Hogan began his career in 1975 at Ansett Airlines as an ordinary employee, and subsequently held senior positions with British Midland International, Hertz Corporation, Forte Hotels, and Gulf Air.

“Lounge in AUH is a bit too big and crowded, not much privacy possible. The shower you have to queue for with a buzzer, but they are very clean and good. It was a smooth flight. Food, drinks and service was friendly and professional. Only thing which was a bit annoying was our brand new suitcase which arrived in Frankfurt looking like 10 years old with scratches and dents.

Conclusion

As for their services. Etihad Airways offers a 5-star service towards its passengers for a convenient and memorable flight and travel. Though the issue about their “not smiling” flight attendant’s can be tolerable, still—Etihad should focus on this issue in order for the airline to serve its passenger conveniently as well as for the airline’s rate to increase,  and for the good reviews that they (passengers) will give after they’ve depart. Approachable and friendly staff with fast and professional assistance can actually make a big difference to a traveler’s normal traveling day to something special.
